Pre-Operative Blood Work
Pre-Operative Blood Work: Your pet’s health is important to us. As a precautionary measure, we recommend that all patients undergo pre-anesthetic blood work to ensure that their body is capable of processing the anesthetic and eliminating it after the procedure. We are now able to offer a more complete blood panel at a lower cost to you. The panel includes a CBC (Complete Blood Count to screen for anemia and infection), a thorough chemistry panel (organ testing including kidney and liver), as well as PT & PTT (clotting ability). After surgery, the anesthetic is eliminated through the liver and kidneys so it is important to know that these organs are functioning properly before administering anesthetic.
In addition, if this is your pet’s first blood panel, it will give us a good baseline to help evaluate future health issues should they arise.
This pre-operative panel needs to be done at least one day prior to the animal coming in for the procedure so that we can have the blood results back from the lab prior to the surgery.
Our lab is offering this new panel for the low cost of $29.90. Ask us today if you would like to have this important information on file for your pet.
