Regular Check-Ups: At Oak Park Veterinary Clinic, we subscribe to the preventive medicine approach rather than waiting to diagnose a problem after it has started. We do this by recommending annual blood work starting at age 2 to establish a baseline for each patient. This makes it easier to determine changes in your pet’s health from year to year and head off costly treatments after the fact.

We also recommend semi-annual check-ups for our geriatric patients – those patients over 7 years old, especially the larger breeds. As we age, things like arthritis start to pop up and early detection can mean the difference between a happy, healthy senior and one who struggles in everyday life.
